M 130 MATH FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS I
This is a pre-service course for students majoring in elementary or early childhood education. Topics include problem solving process, history, set theory, functions, logic, numeration systems, number theory, rational and irrational numbers, ratios, proportions, decimals and percentages. Students will discuss applicable national and state mathematics education standards and guidelines, and use computer software for algebra and geometry. Application projects will involve library research, critical thinking, hands-on manipulative practice, and classroom presentations.
