General Studies – Math A.A.
Philosophy:
The Math Option is designed to provide a broad foundation for students interested in mathematics and related fields including engineering, computer science, human services, business and mathematics education. Critical thinking and cooperative learning are stressed.
Expected Learner Outcomes:
Students will:
- apply a mathematical model to real life situation.
- develop a mathematical model through data analysis.
- apply basic math skills in complex situations.
- examine the influences of different cultures in mathematics.
- demonstrate skill in determining which mathematical tools to use in solving problems of various types.
- demonstrate skill in solving problems which require algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and number theory methods for solutions.
Course Requirements:
Students will complete the GENERAL EDUCATION And The PROFESSIONAL CORE degree requirements as outlined in the appropriate sections with these specific courses required for completion of General Education Requirements.
